A-Station -- A Downpour Of Harmony -- DodgingRain

Novation A-Station

Novation's A-Station was an evolutionary step beyond the Bass Station and Super BassStation with an infusion of technology from the Supernova line. Novation also created a K-Station which has 25 keys and a better display and the V-Station for the softsynth domain. Novation claims that all three are sysex compatable and thus can share sounds. The A-Station sports 8 notes of polyphony, a 12db/24db filter, reverb, delay, chorus/phaser, distortion, EQ, FM, and a vocoder. The sound from the A-Station is characterized by the smooth novation filters and great unison options. It suffers from clicking problems, aliasing, and a cryptic 3 character LCD display that requires memorizing dozens of abreviations in order to get the best out of the device. It also suffers from a limited synthesis engine that forces the programmer to be creative in order to get a wide variety of sounds. Given the A-Stations limitations it does a good job with EP and large detuned/chorused/delayed sounds often heard in trance and other similar electronica.
